Pretty Planters
Creating beautiful planters with wildflowers, plants, likely a few weeds (that I thought were attractive and ok, likely didn’t realize they were weeds until I was too committed…) and full disclosure, there’s a few pieces I did have to buy….sometimes what you find only gets you so far and you have to suck it up and dole out some dough to make your vision come to life (and not look like it’s just a bunch of weeds!)
I’ve found the best way to begin is with a plan. It doesn’t have to be too elaborate but you should get a general idea of how much space you have to work with, and how you’ll fill it before you begin. I learned this the hard way and had to dig out a bunch of flowers and start over when I first started. And the less handling of any flower, the less risk of damage and the happier they will be to stay and thrive where you first plant them.
I’m sure you’ve heard the general tip to start in the middle with something that thrills surrounded something that fills in the space and finish off with something that spills….that’s a lot of somethings and, at least to me, there are no rules as to what the somethings are - flowers, plants or other materials from the outdoors. Sure, you can use man made items as well, but ideally these are kept to a minimum.
